No Planes, No Strains - Your 2020 Adventure is Waiting
Llechwedd is rapidly becoming known as THE heart of adventure in North Wales. As well as being home to Zip World Titan, Bounce Below and Zip World Caverns, Llechwedd’s own Deep Mine and Slate Mountain Adventure were recently crowned Attraction of the Year at the North Wales Tourism awards, and there’s even a world-class downhill mountain biking centre!
In fact, there’s so much to pack into your visit to Llechwedd that it has now become the FIRST major adventure attraction in North Wales to offer accommodation as well.
Steeped in the rich history of the quarry, Plas Weunydd is a 24-bedroom boutique hotel with a focus on a family-friendly experience.
The hotel, which opens to the public this June, is the latest accommodation development at this unique location, following on from the highly popular Slate Mountain Glamping site, which is holder of a Visit Wales Gold award for accommodation and super host status on Airbnb.
Using images from our extensive archive, the 24 bedrooms are uniquely furnished to give a real sense of the history of the lives of the men who worked in the quarry. A number of room types are available, from interconnected family suites to dog friendly.
Alongside the hotel, the informal and relaxed surroundings of the restaurant includes a menu full of contemporary dishes using locally sourced ingredients, with seating available both inside and outside on the beautiful South facing terrace – perfect for sitting back, drink in hand, watching the world zip by.
There is also a display of unique artefacts in the bar which evoke the extraordinary past of this special place.
Adam Lemalle, Marketing Manager at Llechwedd said: “We are a world renowned adventure and heritage site and after a day of exploring the mine, or even the mountains of Snowdonia that surround us, the hotel offers a contrasting haven of tranquillity, with simple but stylish interiors, many home comforts and with references to the mine’s incredible history throughout.
“Llechwedd is central to the ongoing bid to award the North Wales slate industry World Heritage Status – making Plas Weunydd a boutique hotel on a potential UNESCO site, a stay at Plas Weunydd becomes even more of a unique experience!”
Plas Weunydd is perfectly situated to not only experience everything Llechwedd has to offer, but also as a base for adventuring further into Snowdonia itself. The breath-taking mountain ranges, beautiful blue flag beaches, castles and countless other attractions are just minutes from the front door of the hotel.
Bookings are now being taken ahead of the official opening at the end of June.
