NHS Thank You From Llechwedd

NHS Thank You From Llechwedd

June 05 2020      Adam Lemalle

The underground caverns of Llechwedd in Blaenau Ffestiniog were lit up on Thursday night’s Clap For Carers in support of the amazing NHS and key workers across the United Kingdom.

Llechwedd’s famous Deep Mine tour has won multiple awards for its underground light & sound display, but Thursday night saw the huge, man-made slate chambers and subterranean lake lit up in the colours of the rainbow instead, sending a message of thanks to the key workers who have supported the country during the pandemic.

A collaboration between Llechwedd, Zed Creative and Piranha Creative, the temporary installation was the idea of Michael Bewick, Managing Director of Llechwedd.

He said: ‘The Greaves family business has been working here at Llechwedd since 1836 but even in all that time has never seen a crisis like this one. We wanted to add our thanks from us and from our team to the many people working to keep us all safe.’

Like many other attractions in North Wales, Llechwedd is currently closed to tourists, but is working to government guidelines to ensure the site is safe and well prepared, ready for when restrictions are eased.
