Llechwedd Wins at Go North Wales Awards
Llechwedd was one of the big winners at the 2019 Go North Wales Awards in November, where it picked up the Go Attraction of the Year award ahead of Zip World, Greenwood Forest Park and Rhyl’s new SC2 complex.
With the Llechwedd Deep Mine tour now in it’s fortieth year, the award acknowledged the incredible effort which has gone into creating a fantastic experience for it’s visitors.
Bleddyn Williams, Commercial Manager at Llechwedd said: “The whole team is thrilled, it’s incredible. We employ as many as 90 people peak season and up to 40 in the winter months. Everyone has worked so hard to ensure we have achieved this success.
“We are one of the original North Wales attractions having started in 1972. And we have won many awards which is always satisfying but also shows that we continue to develop. No-one at Llechwedd is going to be sitting on their laurels anytime soon.”
The award in particular gave special mention to Llechwedd’s newest tour - the Slate Mountain Adventure, which pulled in 10,000 visitors in 2019.
Llechwedd was also shortlisted in the ‘Glamping or Camping’ category for their Visit Wales Gold Award rated Slate Mountain Glamping site.
