Slate Mountain Mynydd Llechi becomes Llechwedd

After discussions with local community members and groups, it was decided that we would change our name from Slate Mountain/Mynydd Llechi, to Llechwedd.

Llechwedd keeps the traditional name of the site, but will now also be the umbrella name for the site in general.

The name Slate Mountain will remain for the full site tour, as it includes visits to other mines such as Maenofferen, Diffywys and Ffoty, while Llechwedd will remain the name of the Deep Mine.

Likewise, our boutique hotel at the former home of J. W. Greaves will be called ‘Plas Weunydd Hotel’. The award winning glampsite will retain the name ‘Slate Mountain Glamping’.
